Behind the design: The central symbol of the design is called the Rod of Asclepius, which has been associated with medicine and health care since ancient Greece. This symbol is circled by four arrows pointing to the Rod of Asclepius, representing the four pillars of medicine (autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice).
